All competitions in the ACT are adjudicated by highly qualified ACTDU accredited adjudicators. If you would like to become an accredited adjudicator, you must attend a training seminar delivered by the Adjudications Officer, complete a written examination, and be present at a shadow debate wherein you will deliver an oral adjudication to a member of the ACTDU committee.
ACTDU adjudicators are paid approximately $35 AUD for each debate they adjudicate. All adjudicators are expected to arrive at the venue 15 minutes before debates are scheduled to commence; all adjudicators are expected to conform to a business-casual dress code. Failure to meet these standards will result in the adjudicator's immediate dismissal. If you are interested in becoming an adjudicator for ACTDU, express your interest by contacting us. |
The ACTDU offers free coaching to public schools in Canberra and surrounding regions. We also help schools hire coaches for themselves.
ACTDU coaches are paid at the hourly rate of $35AUD. Coaches are expected to arrange weekly 2 hour coaching sessions with their students, and to be present at as many of their students' debates as possible. Coaches are expected to conform to a smart-casual dress code when coaching students, and a business-casual dress code when attending their students' debates. Coaches are required to keep an account of their hours, and to have their hours signed off by a teacher supervisor or the relevant Duty Officer. Failure to meet these requirements will result in the coach's immediate dismissal. To express interest in being a coach for the ACTDU, please contact us. |
